OWLS Neil Smith Wildlife Refuge Trip
Wednesday, August 10
Tour begins at 10:00 AM
Cost: $5 per person
Let’s go to the Neil Smith Wildlife Refuge that boasts 600 acres
of preserved and reconstructed prairie, oak savannah and sedge meadows that
should be welcoming spring blooms and bison calving during our visit.
The adult focused OWLS group of
Dubuque, Jackson and Jones County Conservation will be offering limited
carpooling from their respective nature centers at 7:00 am. All adults are welcome on OWLS sponsored events!
We’ll be given a tour of the education center at Neil Smith and green houses,
go on a few hikes, enjoy a picnic lunch and go on the guided driving tour to
view their bison and elk herds.
Dress for the weather and walking, wear comfortable shoes, bring a sack lunch, water bottle, snacks, sunscreen, bug spray, hat and any other items you may want for the day trip.
