Location: The Kellerton Bird Conservation Area is located two miles west of Kellerton, Iowa on Hwy 2, then about 1.5 miles south on 300th Ave to the Prairie Chicken viewing platform. Site Information: Outdoor enthusiasts are encouragd to welcome the dawn at the Kellerton Bird Conservation Area, enjoying the Greater Prairie Chicken as they boom and dance. Chicken viewing will begin at first light, around 6:00 AM. Dawn is the best time to see the birds perform their annual mating rituals. IDNR personnel will be on hand to answer you questions. A commercial spotting scope and a limited number of binoculars will be available for use as the birds will be approximately 200 yards away. Juice and Donuts will be availabe at the viewing stand.
