Sunrise this morning marks the day in our circle around the sun that moves us into the spring season. We will celebrate this event by observing the sun’s appearance in the eastern horizon, rising over the equinox stone of Hanging Rock’s clock. This clock has no connection to human mechanisms or constructs. Instead, this clock meters time as defined by the celestial waltz of the earth and sun. Perhaps setting your personal time piece to the real time of our place is just the “daylight savings time” adjustment you need. Following our sunrise observation we will discuss equinox celebrations observed by other cultures and perhaps dream up a celebration of our own.
