Navigate the Wilds-Orienteering/GPS

Kuehn Conservation Area, Dallas County

Sunday, September 16, 2012

True freedom comes when you learn to navigate the wilds. If you can read a map, compass, and GPS you are prepared to go to landscapes where most humans will never allow their eyes to sweep, nor allow their feet to touch. Learn the basics of reading a topographic map, pair that with a compass, and the ultimate in Hansel and Gretel “bread crumbs”, learn to use a hand-held GPS. You will put your skills together to hike the wilds of Kuehn and let your eyes sweep landscapes most people in Dallas County will never see. Expect to hike off trail through woods and prairie, as well as up and down the hills of Kuehn. Recommended for ages 10 and above. Registration is required for this program.  $3 per person or $10 for families with more than 3 family members.
