Siouxland Tour finals disc golf tournament
Kenue Park, Dickinson County
Saturday, October 10, 2015
The Siouxland Tour disc golf tournament finals will be held
Saturday, Oct. 10, at the Okoboji Gold Disc Golf Course in Kenue Park.
All
ages of disc golfers are invited to play in this two-round tournament, which tees
off at 10 a.m. Oct. 10.
Players
can register 8:30-9:30 a.m. for either youth or adult divisions, and adults
will be flighted --- ranked by skill level --- after the first 18-hole round of
play. Registration is $10, and the tournament will feature 100 percent cash
payouts as well as other prizes from local businesses.
The
Siouxland Tour finals completes a season of tournaments held throughout the
area, from Sanborn to Brandon, SD, to South Sioux City, NE. Tour participants
receive a point per the percentage of the field they beat in each event. For
example, someone who beats 100 percent of the field gets 100 points, while a
player that wins over 20 percent of the field is awarded 20 points.
Points
will be awarded in the Okoboji finals as well, however, participants in this
tournament need not have played in other tour tournaments to play Oct. 10.
The
Siouxland Tour held its finals at the Dickinson County Conservation Board’s Okoboji
Golf course in 2014 as well.
“We had
a good turnout last year,” said naturalist Charles Vigdal. “We have a fantastic
disc golf course with 18 holes and two levels of tees. It’s a very challenging
course which makes it really fun to play.”
The conservation
board is happy to have the tournament back this year.
“It’s
neat we have a Siouxland Tour with all of these disc golf courses hosting their
own tournaments, and we’re proud to host the finals of this tour,” Vigdal said.
