Join Polk County Conservation naturalists on this five-day adventure to the sandhills of Nebraska. The Niobrara River is a National Wild and Scenic River, which offers spectacular paddling and scenery. We’ll camp three nights along the banks of the river, and within a five minute walk to the spectacular Smith Falls, the largest waterfall in the state of Nebraska. We’ll paddle two days on the river. All paddling equipment is provided. We’ll spend the third day visiting Fort Niobrara National Wildlife Refuge and Ashfall Fossil Beds. Meals will be prepared for you by the campfire while you relax and take in the scenery.  

Fee: $550; includes transportation (15 passenger van), lodging, most equipment, and all food except meals while traveling. Departure from the Jester Park Outdoor Recreation & Wellness Center. Minimum age 21 and must pass a paddling proficiency test. Dates to be determined for testing. Participants need to bring a tent, sleeping bag, personal items, cash for meals and souvenirs while traveling. Registration deadline is June 22
