Litter Busters

Hitchcock Nature Center, Pottawattamie County

Saturday, June 6, 2020

It's been a busy spring at the park & we need your help! Join us on Saturday, June 6th from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for Litter Busters & clean up Hitchcock Nature Center.

Check in at 11:00 a.m. in the main parking lot near the Loess Hills Lodge & pick up your equipment then head out into the park to pick up as much litter as you can find! Everyone who participates will win a small prize & be entered into a drawing to receive a free one night cabin stay!

Social distancing will be required for participation in this event. Groups should be comprised of immediate family or household members only & be 10 individuals or fewer. Masks are recommended for use during check in, check out, & during any interactions with staff or other participants.

Volunteers are encouraged to bring their own garbage collection bags & gloves. Collection bags & gloves will also be available at check in while supplies last.

This is an all ages event but will involve traversing uneven terrain. Strollers are not recommended. Collection will be carried out in family groups or individually & not in a large group. Please dress for the weather & wear sturdy, closed toe shoes. We also recommend participants bring the following items:

  • Face mask
  • Long sleeved shirt & pants
  • Insect repellent
  • Sunblock
  • Sun hat
  • Water
  • Hand sanitizer

No pre-registration is required for this event & the park admission fee is waived for all participants. Participants may bypass the paybox at the front gate & pick up their volunteer parking tags at the check in table. Volunteer parking tags must be placed on your vehicle dashboard for free admission.
