Bigelow Park Bell Shelter PM (OLD-DO NOT USE)

The Dale G. Bell Memorial Shelter is a fully-accessible, enclosed facility overlooking a 600-acre lake, known as Brown’s Lake, in Bigelow Park.   It accommodates up to 85 people, and features a beautiful two-sided stone fireplace, heat and air conditioning, ceiling fans, 10 picnic tables, 3 serving tables, modern restrooms, and a food service area with a countertop, sink, refrigerator & microwave.  Just outside is a concrete patio with a perfect view of the lake, 5 picnic tables, 2 double barbecue grills, parking for 25+ cars, horseshoe pits, and a playground area for the kids. A tornado shelter, fishing access, a swimming beach, a regulation sand volleyball court, and an open field for playing baseball, softball or soccer are also located nearby. 

The Dale G. Bell Memorial Shelter is available to rent for a half day (9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m./5:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.) or full day (9:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m.) between May 1st and October 31st for $60 per half-day session or $120 for the full day.  You do not have to use the shelter for the entire duration of the rental; however, the fees are not reduced for partial use.  Reservations are taken up to two years in advance.

This reservation will be for 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM on the date you select.  If you want to reserve the shelter from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., please go back and choose “Bigelow Park Bell Shelter, 9 AM - 4 PM” in the facilities list.  If you want to reserve a full day, please continue by clicking on “Book Now”, and after completing this reservation, click on “Continue Shopping” to add the other half-day session to your cart. 

PLEASE NOTE:  There are NO REFUNDS for cancellations; however, you will have one opportunity to reschedule your reservation upon payment of a $25 administrative fee.

Firewood is available for purchase.

Hours of Operation & Seasons

The Dale G. Bell Memorial Shelter is available for rental from May 1st through October 31st.
Reservations may be made up to TWO YEARS in advance.

Closures

The Dale G. Bell Memorial Shelter is closed November 1st through April 30th.

Permits

  • Rental must be made in the name of a person who is at least 21 years of age who will be present at the facility for the full term of the reservation.
  • Smoking is prohibited in the shelter.
  • Pets/animals are prohibited in the shelter.
  • All Rules & Regulations of the Woodbury County Conservation Board are in effect.  Violation may result in fines, use privileges being rescinded, and forfeiture of reservation fees.
