This course is primarily for volunteers who want to learn how to assist Des Moines County Conservation with local prescribed burns. The course will go over the basics of burning in grasslands and forests as a natural resource management practice. However, local landowners wanting to learn how to safely burn on their own properties are welcome to attend as well. There will be a demonstration burn following the classroom portion (weather permitting) so participants should wear jeans, long sleeves, and closed-toed shoes (preferably work boots). Class is limited to 12 participants. RSVP is required using the online form.
