PROGRAMS
10:00 AM, “The How to’s of Dutch Oven Cooking”
Barbara Tagami and Friends
Learn how to cook meals the old fashion way using coals from the fire. Help prepare food and then sample the results.
11:00 AM “Prairie Hike”
Walk amid the tallgrass prairie, explore and discover the plants,
wildlife and ecology of this place we call home.
2:00PM “Frontier Living”, Ron Williams
Learn about frontier life- the tools, food, clothing and much more!
3:00 PM “Rain Gardens with Indigenous Plants”, Steve Anderson
Interested in learning how to use native prairie plants in the landscape for low impact development and improve water quality.
ON-GOING PROGRAMS
“Prairie Seed Gathering”- with Charles Vigdal and volunteers,
harvest seeds from our prairie and help seed other areas of Kenue Park into prairie or take seeds with you to establish your own little piece of prairie!
“Westport One-roomed Schoolhouse”-
visit our hundred year old one room schoolhouse and experience school days from a bygone era.

This documentary is about the History of Iowa’s Tallgrass Prairie
and its revival throughout Iowa’s roadsides
FAMILY ACTIVITIES (in the nature center)
· Prairie Seed Clay Sculptures –Get a piece of clay, add prairie seeds and make a sculpture. Plant in the spring.
· Decorate your own tree cookie with seeds, feathers, shells
· Nature Explore Treasure Hunt- walk and learn about our wild places at Kenue Park as you collect items for your very own walking stick.
A SACK LUNCH FOR A PICNIC is available
for a donation of $5.00. Please bring your own blanket.
