Critter Catch
Wickiup Hill Learning Center, Linn County
Saturday, June 5, 2021
Join Linn County Conservation as we celebrate the vital importance of wetlands to our ecological, economic, and social health. Wetlands help improve water quality and supply, reduce flooding and provide critical habitat for plants, fish and wildlife.
Families are invited to Wickiup Hill learning Center for a hands-on wetland exploration to discover what critters are living in or around the water. Participants will use nets to catch frogs, crawdads, snails, and insects hatching throughout the wetlands as part of a water quality assessment. Linn County Conservation will be on site to help identify critters and will have microscopes on hand for viewing and identifying samples as well. Iowa State University and other partnering organizations will be on site with exhibits, displays, and activities regarding water quality and conservation.
No need to register. Come and go from 9 a.m. – Noon. This is a free family event and is open to all ages.
