Many kids know about recycling, but not everyone has heard about composting. Come learn about this cool way to reduce our carbon footprint by joining Green Iowa AmeriCorps members on Saturday, November 20th from 10:30-11:30. We will be talking about what we do with our waste, and how our food scraps can be composted instead of thrown into the garbage. We will be reading the book Compost Stew: An A to Z Recipe for the Earth, which will help us better understand how our food can become soil. After our story and discussion, we will test what we learned with a game, sorting “trash” into the right receptacles and racing to see who can sort the fastest.
