And don’t forget to stop in at McGee Gallery and Framing!  Iowa artist Barbara McGee opened Mcgee Gallery and Framing in 2000.  Originally a shared space, Barb was ecstatic to move her painting and framing studio out of her home.  Barb took over the full lease in 2002, designating a room each for her studio and gallery - giving visitors an opportunity to see new works at varying stages of creation.  Growing again in 2008, McGee Gallery and Framing expanded to include the building that once housed Eddie’s Hardware.

In addition to paintings her own designs, Barb is available to do commission paintings, and offers custom framing.

Opening the gallery has not only given Barb a place to showcase her own work, but also that of many of the fine artists she has met over her many years, offering such a wide variety of mediums all under one roof.

And of course don’t miss the opportunity to visit the Prairie Heritage Center, west of Peterson and along the Glacial Trail Scenic Byway!  We are currently showcasing a Birding Bonanza Exhibit in the lower level, a Ding-Darling Exhibit in the Conference Room, take a step back in time to visit the covered wagon exhibit outside, and snap a picture of our newest addition – a Baby Bison was born May 6th.  The Prairie Heritage Center is open Wednesday through Friday from 9 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. and Saturday and Sunday from 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M.
