Homeschool in the Hills: Project FeederWatch - Afternoon Session

Hitchcock Nature Center, Pottawattamie County

Tuesday, February 4, 2020

Area homeschool students and educators are invited to join us for a series of field trips designed for homeschool students in Kindergarten to 5th grade. This year's Homeschool in the Hills programming will focus on the world of citizen science, a system of public programs designed to involve budding scientists of all ages in a variety of fields to collect data for scientific use. With numerous projects spanning the entire year there is something for everyone in the world of citizen science. We aim to explore a selection of programs & help you find ways to get involved with the broader scientific community.

Join us on February 4th for our first citizen science session, Project FeederWatch. This program encourages citizen scientists to view & report bird species in their own backyards each year from November to April. This data helps scientists track bird species numbers, migration, & overall activity. Participants will learn more about this program and develop the skills & knowledge needed to participate in this annual event. For more information on Project FeederWatch please visit www.feederwatch.org.

Two sessions of this program are offered, this registration is for the afternoon session from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. To register for the morning session from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m please return to the program listing & select the morning session option.
