Monarch Tagging!
The Ringgold County Conservation
Board is participating in the Monarch Watch tagging program and needs your help
capturing Monarch Butterflies to tag!
Join Director Kate Zimmerman on September 3rd at 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM and investigate
the life cycle of a Monarch Butterfly, discover how to identify male and female
Monarchs, study Monarch migration and learn how to tag Monarchs on their
journey south to central Mexico.
Attend this FREE public program in Ringgold County to explore the life
of a Monarch Butterfly. RCCB will provide butterfly nets to catch your own
butterfly for this family friendly event!
Meet at the Shady Oaks (enclosed) Shelter
at Fife’s Grove Park north of Mount Ayr which offers unique prairie walks and
butterfly habitat.
A great family
activity! Please wear long pants even if it is hot. Tennis shoes/socks,
sunscreen, hats and a water bottle are all recommended.
