Discover Logsdon Park in Iowa Falls

Nestled next to the South Fork of the Iowa River, on 13.5 acres, you will find Logsdon Park. The park has a significant historic background in that it was the first highway rest area developed and maintained by the Iowa Highway Commission and served as a pattern for the development of other such areas throughout the state. It is located nearly in the exact center of Hardin County. The park consists of a shelter house, portable type restrooms, playground equipment, and a suspended foot bridge and picnic area. The park is now a designated Safety Rest Area.

Today you will still find many unique and historical features in this park including: a sandstone shelter house with fire place, a swinging bridge that crosses the South Fork of the Iowa River, an old limestone band shell that was built by local farmers and a prairie area on the northern part of the property for enriching the habitat for many different wildlife species.
