Overview

The Sergeant Floyd Monument is a 100-foot Egyptian-style obelisk built of Kettle River sandstone.  It is the country's first National Historic Landmark and marks the burial place of Sergeant Charles Floyd, the only fatality of the Lewis & Clark expedition. The monument is within a 23-acre park overlooking the Missouri River valley.
