In 2019 Francis Garrett and family donated twenty-five acres of undeveloped land to the Allamakee County Conservation Foundation (ACCF) to be developed and managed as a wetlands nature preserve. The property includes a high-quality wetland that attracts a variety of waterfowl and migratory birds and is a trout habitat. The family’s intention is to see this site developed to include public access hiking trails, bird watching sites and fishing access and to be the locus for on-the-ground environmental education programs.
