Cedar Valley Nature Trail Closures/Updates

The Cedar Valley Nature Trail remains
closed from King Road near McFarlane Park in La Porte City to the Bear Creek Bridge. We
have been notified that the paving contractor is expected to mobilize and begin
paving this section of trail beginning Wednesday, June 26th, weather
and trail conditions pending. Please avoid this section of trail and obey ALL
trail closure signage. The closures are for the safety of the public and the
contractors.
Work being completed on the unpaved
portion of the Cedar Valley Nature Trail is being funded through a Destination
Iowa Grant and American Rescue Plan Act funding.
In addition, beginning in late July, work
will begin to replace three trail bridges on the northern end of the trail
including the M1 Bridge just south of King Road which carries the trail over a
backwater area of the Cedar River; C1 Bridge over Miller Creek; and E3 Bridge
over Sink Creek. These bridge replacements include associated paving in the
area of the bridges and the paving of three gravel road crossings including
Weiden Road, McKellar Road, and Miller Creek Road.
