The International Crane Foundation (ICF) in Baraboo, Wisconsin is sponsoring the Annual Midwest Sandhill Crane Count in Bremer County on April 17. The count is used to monitor the general population trend of sandhill cranes in the Upper Midwest, as well as promoting awareness of cranes and wetland conservation. If you are interested in taking part, we have a video that can train you. You will need to watch the video to learn how to identify sandhill cranes by sight and sound. A survey site will be assigned and you will receive observation forms. On April 17, you will be required to be at your site from 5:30 am - 7:30 am in order to witness any cranes feeding, flying or calling. Call Bremer County Conservation at 319-882-4742 to participate or for any questions.
