Wildflower Geocaching
MAY 08 2010 12:00 PM
Event Summary
So you’ve heard of geocaching but haven’t had a chance to try it? Or maybe you're a seasoned cacher looking for a new challenge? This is an event for you. Caches will be set up just for this event where you can locate a cache, identify a wildflower, and collect a bead to show you were there. The only way to find these wildflower locations is with GPS (Global Positioning System). Garmin eTrex GPS units and wildflower guides will be available for checkout. Meet at the picnic tables (N 42.31.490, W 92.00.512) to get started (parking at N 42 31.544 W 92 00.458).
Participants can geocache individually or in family groups or teams. Each will be given coordinates for the caches and a scorecard and length of string to record their finds. At the end of the day, strings may be kept as a memento. More information will be available at www.geocaching.com and click on the events calendar for May 8.
