Event Summary

Help Fontana Park celebrate International Migratory Bird Day by exploring the following events:

7:30AM Birding by Ear for adults-learn tips and tricks and explore the Fontana trails

9 AM Bird Sleuth Scavenger Hunt for kids-Learn how to use binoculars and hit the trails to search for some special birds. Prizes will be given for completion.
11 AM Bird Picnic for Pre-K to 1st graders-Little tykes and their adults are invited to hear a story, snack on some “bird food,” and create a take-home craft.
1 PM Bird of Prey Program-Get an up-close glimpse of a few of Fontana’s resident birds of prey
3 PM Bird Sleuth Scavenger Hunt for kids-If the 9AM session was too early for you, check this one out.
6:30 Evening birding field trip to Ham Marsh-All ages are invited to watch the abundant bird life at Ham’s Marsh. Participants will meet at the Fontana parking lot and carpool to the site.

The nature center will be open special extended hours from 10 AM to 5 PM, with activities for all ages. Crafts and activities will be ongoing at the nature center at those times. You may create a take-home bird feeder, turn in guesses for a bird ID challenge, or get a close-up look at bird skulls, wings, and feet. Kids can become a Bird Sleuth by completing activities and collecting stamps on a special Birding Passport throughout the day.
