Rain Garden Design & Construction

Event Summary

Participants will visit several rain gardens and discuss design, function, site selection, size, plant selection, and logistics of functional rain gardens during the evening session from 6-8 pm on June 13.  Participants will then work as a team on June 22 (9 am - 2 pm tentatively) to construct and plant the rain garden on the selected site to have the opportunity to experience all aspects of what it takes to complete a project on their own site. Please indicate in the registration if you would like to have the opportunity to have your Buchanan County site selected for construction on June 22.

All participants will get to select from several native perennials to use in their own gardens.  Additional costs for mulch and edging (if desired) for the selected rain garden will be the responsibility of the property owner at the selected site.

This is a 2-part program and participants will need to attend both sessions (June 13 6-8 pm and June 22 9 am - 2 pm).
