Jakway Park, south of Aurora, is developed on the east side of Buffalo Creek with a campground, shower house and dump station! Modern restrooms are available, and the concrete shower house also serves as a storm shelter. The picturesque, shaded campground features stately oak trees and campers can walk the adjacent self-guided trails and stop in the wildlife observation blind at the old quarry pond. Campers and visitors can try fishing for small fish in the creek or in the old quarry pond, walk to the playground, shelter house, and historic Richardson-Jakway House and grounds. Hunting is not allowed on the developed east side of Buffalo Creek.

West of Buffalo Creek, the largest section of the 315 acre park is managed for timber stand improvement, hunting, equestrian riding, nature appreciation and hiking.
