Johnson Prairie
Johnson Prairie, spanning 120 acres of land near Rockwell City, was obtained by the Calhoun County Conservation in 1992. The site features an old farmstead, a pasture, and an untouched prairie remnant. Since the CCCB took ownership, efforts to restore native grasses and flowers have been ongoing, benefitting the local species. Additionally, a small pond was built on the property to support water retention and encourage wildlife to thrive. Hunting on this patch of land is permitted as long as all rules and regulations are followed!
