Event Summary

Jon Stravers currently serves as the director of Driftless Area Bird Conservation, an organization dedication to bird research and conservation in the Driftless area of northeast Iowa. For the past 37 years Jon has specialized in monitoring and inventory projects on Red-shouldered Hawks, Bald Eagles and other birds along the Mississippi River, including raptor migration along the Upper Mississippi River. In 2008 he received the Upper Mississippi River Stewardship Award and in 2009 received the Effigy Mounds National Monument and Iowa DNR Wildlife Diversity award.  During this program Jon will share his vast knowledge bird research and conservation. A catered lunch and social time will follow the program.  Cost is $5.00 for nature center members and $7.00 for nonmembers.  Please call 423-5309 by 4 p.m. October 10 to register.
