For Seniors Only - Robert Vavra, The Day of the Hunter-Gatherer

Event Summary

Robert Vavra, Mississippi Riverboat Captain and owner/operator of The Maiden Voyage, a working river boat on the Upper Mississippi River, is the guest speaker for this program. Working for a number of years after high school in commercial fishing, clamming and trapping, Vavra realized a young man should not hitch his wagon to a dying industry. His presentation, The Day of the Hunter Gatherer, is a hands-on, interactive experience that will explore the history of hunting, trapping, fishing, and clamming on the great Mississippi River. The program will be followed by a catered lunch and social time. Cost is $5.00 for nature center members and $7.00 for nonmembers. Please call 423-5309 by January 9 to register.
