Field Day Friday
Bloody Run, Clayton County
Friday, July 30, 2021
Clayton
County Conservation will host a guided hike to talk habitat improvements, trail
development, and ecological restoration along the Well’s Hollow Trail at Bloody
Run County Park on Friday, July 30th, at 5:00 PM, no reservations will be required for this program.
The
Well’s Hollow Trail features three remnant Oak savannas which have been a major
target of Clayton County Conservation’s natural resource management program.
Once widespread, Oak savannas are now one of the most endangered habitats in
Iowa, and remnants like those at Bloody Run are a special treat.
Participants
should come prepared for a hike of approximately 1.3 miles with a few rugged
climbs. Water, long pants, and natural curiosity are highly recommended
accessories for those wishing to enjoy this event.
