Winter Tree and Plant ID Workshop
Feb 17, 2024
1:00-3:00
Motor Mill Campground

Everyone knows a maple leaf, but how can you tell what’s growing in the forest after the leaves drop? Come on out to the Motor Mill Historic Site and de-mystify Iowa’s native plants in their winter form!

This hike will focus on the identifying characteristics of trees and plants and how they inform the decision making process for land stewardship and winter conservation work.

Iowa DNR district forester Dave Asche and CCCB naturalist Kenny Slocum will lead the hike of approximately 1 mile. Meet at the Motor Mill Campground, just east of the mill. Participants are advised to dress for the weather and walking on rough terrain with occasional steep spots, and bring drinking water if necessary.

The Motor Mill Historic Site is located at 28518 Galaxy Road, Elkader, Iowa. For more information on this and other events call 563-245-1516 or visit www.claytoncountyconservation.org
