Tallgrass Prairies -- Past, Present, and Future

Event Summary

Clayton County Conservation invites visitors to experience the story of our prairie heritage through the exhibit “Tallgrass Prairies – Past, Present and Future”, developed by the Iowa Association of Naturalists. This exhibit will be on display and open to the public at the Osborne Nature Center from April 2nd- April 30th. Hands-on displays and interactive components will engage visitors in learning about the prairie landscape and native plant species. A free, fun, family event! The Osborne Nature Center will be starting summer hours beginning in April of Monday-Saturday 8am-4pm and Sunday 12am-4pm.

This exhibit was made possible with funding from REAP-CEP, Pheasants Forever Inc. & Iowa Pheasants Forever Native Seed Program, Iowa Trust for Local Conservation, Living Roadway Trust Fund, Tallgrass Prairie Center – UNI, and Truax Company.  The following IAN member agencies and foundations also provided matching funds and letters of support: City of Davenport Parks and Recreation, Emmet County Conservation Board, Friends of Calkins Nature Area, Friends of Fontana, Friends of Iowa County Conservation, Friends of Jackson County Conservation, Friends of Warren County Conservation Board, Friends of Wickiup/Linn County Conservation, Iowa Association of Naturalists, Little Sioux Valley Conservation Association, Pocahontas County Conservation Foundation, Washington County Conservation Board, Woodbury County Conservation Board, and Woodbury County Conservation Foundation.
