Pursuing A Greener Earth - One Tree At A Time in Uganda
APR 27 2019 2:00 PM
Event Summary
Jesse Matt is a Clermont, Iowa native and forestry student at Iowa State University. He’s uniquely passionate about both sustainability and forestry, so when an internship opportunity in Uganda combining those interests came up, he wasn’t going to miss it.
His internship included the implementation of agroforestry in the African nation. Agroforestry is the practice of building forests within or around crop lands to reduce erosion, improve soil health, and grow biodiversity. Come and listen to the story of an Iowa farm boy 8,000 miles from home at 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 27th, at the Osborne Nature Center.
The Osborne Center is located on Highway 13, ten miles north of Strawberry Point and five miles south of Elkader. The center is open from 8:00am to 4:00pm, Monday-Saturday. Please call 563-245-1516 for more information or visit www.claytoncountyconservation.org.
