Event Summary

Friday, July 12 (5pm-8pm)
Osborne Nature Center
The Clayton County Conservation Board was created by ballot measure in 1958. We’re celebrating with an open house, inviting the public we’ve served for six decades to come and share their stories and memories as we look ahead to the next half century of providing recreation, stewardship, and scenery for all to enjoy. Mark your calendars and plan to attend this fun filled event!

The Clayton County Conservation Board invites you to celebrate 60 Years of Conservation at Osborne Park on Friday, July 12 beginning at 5pm with a campfire cookout. Roast a hot dog with the Clayton County Conservation Board and Staff.  At 6pm Naturalist Kenny Slocum will present “Everywhere Practicable: A Brief History of Iowa Parklands,” in the auditorium of the nature center.  This fact packed program leads you through the alphabet soup of founding conservation organizations and how county conservation boards came to be what they are today.  Kids activities geared towards 99 Parks/99 Counties will take place throughout the evening, and we’ll end the night with a s’more and explore. Please RSVP to the Osborne Conservation Center by calling 563.245.1516 or emailing cccb@claytoncountyia.gov.

The Osborne Center is located on Highway 13, ten miles north of Strawberry Point or five miles south of Elkader.  The center is open from 8:00am to 4:00pm, Monday-Saturday. Sunday noon-4:00pm. Please call 563-245-1516 for more information or visit www.claytoncountyconservation.org.
