November of this year will be the 80th Anniversary of the tragic Armistice Day Blizzard of 1940. It started as a warm and sunny morning that suddenly turned into a living hell to duck hunters, farmers, and others who tried to take advantage of the perfect weather that was about to become a winter nightmare. The program will include a presentation, followed by a time to share personal stories and family accounts of this amazing and tragic storm in 1940.

This program was originally scheduled as a O.W.L.S. Event. Even though O.W.L.S. programs were cancelled for the year, we still wanted to host this program for the public. Registration will be required to limit numbers and maintain social distancing so please call 563-245-1516 to register. Participants are encouraged to wear masks and practice social distancing while attending.

Osborne Nature Center is located on HWY 13 five miles south of Elkader. For more information on these events call 563-245-1516 or visit www.claytoncountyconservation.org.
