Event Summary
The Youth Hunter Education Challenge is an advanced hunter education program designed to build and further develop skills taught in basic hunter education courses. For more information about the program visit: http://yhec.nra.org. participants must be 11-18 years old and have completed a State Hunter Education Course. Parent or guardian permission is required. No prior experience needed.
The Iowa State event is a one day event that covers four shooting sports: archery, muzzleloader, .22 rifle and shotgun as well as four knowledge elements: wildlife ID, orienteering, safety trail and the written exam. Participants are scored as an individual and as a team of 5. Teams are classified into two groups, juniors 11-14 and senior 15-18 years of age. Junior participants can play up at the senior level but not vise versa.
Once registration has closed a detailed letter will be emailed out with a schedule for the days events and team assignments.
