Women in the Wilderness - A Visit to Dunn Ranch

Event Summary

Join us for a visit to Dunn Ranch! Dunn Ranch Prairie boasts breathtaking views of expansive grasslands, a thriving bison herd, hundreds of vibrant wildflower species and over 100 species of birds. Dunn Ranch is managed by the Nature Conservancy and is located just over the Iowa/Missouri border in Hatfield, MO.

Participants can park at the DCCB office and carpool from there or meet at the site. The schedule is as follows:

9:00am    Meet at Dunn Ranch (park at Pavilion)

9:15am    Meet with Staff/Check out Bison

10:30am  Leisurely hike through Prairie to Lookout/Kiosks

11:15am  Lunch at Pavilion (bring a sack lunch)

12:00pm  Depart

Dunn Ranch staff plan to tell us a little about what they do, then hook up a small trailer to a tractor and take us out on the prairie to view the bison. They have also recently installed educational kiosks around the prairie that we can visit to learn more as well. When we get back from viewing the bison, we will take a short hike on the pollinator trail that loops through part of the prairie and extends to a lookout structure. Then end with lunch! We are requiring pre-registration for this event, so that Dunn Ranch staff can be prepared for how many people are coming to this event. This event is FREE, but you MUST register by Thursday, August 15th at Noon. Questions? Email Kayla at stalder.decccb@grm.net.
