The Coffelt shelter may be reserved or used on a first-come, first-serve basis. 

The Coffelt Memorial Shelter is a semi-open shelter with a fully enclosed area on the north side that can seat up to 30 people.  This shelter has a large charcoal grill, water hydrant and a great view of the lake.  Also located within a short distance from the Coffelt Shelter is a playground, pit toilet, beach, boatramp, bait shop, cabins and campground.  The enclosed area is only available by reservation.  The rental fee for this shelter is $30 per day.


Check-In / Out Availability Check-in is after 05:30 AM and check-out is before 10:30 PM.

Location The Coffelt Memorial Shelter is located on the east side of Little River Lake near the beach and the cabin area.

Decatur County

The Decatur County Conservation Board is located in south central Iowa along the Missouri border and is home to the Little River Recreation Area - jointly managed by the Decatur County Conservation Board and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources. The 2,200 acre Little River Recreation Area offers something for everyone. Little River Lake (787 acres) provides excellent fishing and pleasure boating, while the surrounding area provides some hunting opportunities for deer, turkey, and pheasants, cross-country skiing, and hiking.
