Wild Edibles & Spring Ephemerals
MAY 04 2024 9:30 AM
Event Summary
Join us for a short walk through Slip Bluff where we will learn about the wild edible and spring ephemeral plants found throughout the park, and even try some samples!
Now is the perfect time to view the Spring Ephemerals popping up throughout the woods. Spring Ephemerals are the plants that are the first to grow in the springtime, and don't last very long! Before the trees leaf out, these plants soak up the sunlight and are pollinated by the first emerging insects. And some of these plants are edible!
Everyone who joins us will be entered into a drawing for a copy of "The Forager's Harvest" by Samuel Thayer and a few other foraging goodies! You must be present at this program to enter the drawing.
Dress for hiking and for the weather. FREE to the public. All ages welcome. Children must be accompanied by an adult. No registration required, just show up.
