Slip Bluff Park has two shelters that can be reserved or used on a first come first serve basis.  The Overlook Shelter a great place to view the Grand River located below the bluff.  The East Shelter is more secluded and is a great area for family gatherings.  Both shelter are open and have grills placed outside for cooking.  Pit toilets are located close by and there is also a modern restroom facility located in the campground area. 


Check-In / Out Availability Check-in is after 05:30 AM and check-out is before 10:30 PM.

Location The Overlook Shelter is located just north of the campground area.

Decatur County

The Little River Recreation Area and Slip Bluff shower houses are CLOSED. The Little River Bait Shop & General Store is also CLOSED for the 2024 season.

 

The Decatur County Conservation Board is located in south central Iowa along the Missouri border and is home to the Little River Recreation Area - jointly managed by the Decatur County Conservation Board and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources. The 2,200 acre Little River Recreation Area offers something for everyone. Little River Lake (787 acres) provides excellent fishing and pleasure boating, while the surrounding area provides some hunting opportunities for deer, turkey, and pheasants, cross-country skiing, and hiking. Other activities include camping, picnicking, archery, boating, and swimming.
