Discover Springer Woods in Decatur City

This beautiful 38 acre timber preserve was donated to Decatur County Conservation Board by Mary Springer in 1991.  Springer Woods is an old growth oak/hickory forest with many wildflowers that can be found in the area.  It is a great bird watching area.  This park is undeveloped and has been designated as a county forest preserve. 

Springer woods is a great example of an old growth oak/hickory forest and is designated as a county forest preserve.  Work is being done at the time to remove some of the underbrush to open up the forest.  The Grand River is loacated near by with a canoe access to the Grand River Water Trail.
