Sand Spring Wildlife Area

This wildlife area consists of 131 acres. The original 73 timbered acres were purchased in 1983 from Margaret and William Trampe. This area has 27 Indian Mounds that are on a ridge above the river. The west side of the property adjoins the bank of the Iowa River for approximately 1/2 mile. In 1990 about 58 acres were purchased from H. Dean and Eunice Folkers and were added to the northern boundary of the original purchase.

Location

The area is located two miles north of Steamboat Rock, on the west side of County Hwy S56.
