BUILDING BETTER BIRDERS WORKSHOP 2 At the Park: Iowa the Beautiful 2023


Event Summary

The 2nd of 3 workshops, this 2-night program (June 8th and 9th) will feature sessions focusing on feeder birds and offer you a chance to build your own birdfeeder. Preregistration is required via mycountyparks.com on or before June 1st by 5 p.m. If you would like to attend multiple workshops, please be sure you preregister for each workshop. Once registered, you can choose to come to as many or as few of the sessions as you would like. Below you will find full details and session schedule. FREE.

This workshop will be conducted by Kelly McKay (BioEco Research and Monitoring Center), with assistance from Mark Roberts (Clinton County Conservation), Brian Ritter and James Wiebler (Nahant Marsh Education Center). Funding was provided by the Resource Enhancement and Protection- Conservation Education Program (REAP-CEP). Kids are welcome to attend but the presentations are geared towards high school aged children and adults. Children that do attend need to have a participating adult present. A light snack will be provided but you can bring your own if you wish. All workshops will be held in the Oakland Mills Nature Center unless otherwise stated. 5:30-7 p.m.- Session 1: “Common Feeder Birds of Iowa” presentation

7-7:15 p.m.- Break

7:15-8:15 p.m.- Session 2: Build Your Own Birdfeeder  

Friday Schedule (June 9th)

5:30-7 p.m.- Session 3: “Ultimate Winter Bird Survey- First Ever Christmas Bird Count Marathon” presentation

7-7:15 p.m.- Break

7:15-8:45 p.m.- Session 4: Bird Hike at Oakland Mills Park.
