Save Our Streams Training
Saturday, April 15 at 1:30 PM
Felderman Park, Bellevue IA
Save Our Streams is a fun way to test water quality by collecting and identifying underwater critters called macroinvertebrates. Volunteers across the country monitor the health of their local creeks and streams to educate the public and provide data to partners, agencies, and organizations. The Izaak Walton League is partnering with Jackson County Conservation to provide a certification workshop for anyone interested in becoming a monitor. With the knowledge and skill from this course a person could become a regular contributor to the nationwide data base of stream quality or simply be a more conscious inhabitant of the land. Before the field day training, participants are encouraged to view 2 webinars. At the field day we’ll all collect data about the stream, its chemical composition and identify the macro invertebrates living there. Participants will be given more information about pre field day study materials and what to wear to the field day. Open to any interested party over the age of 10.To register for the event or to learn more, please contact Jen Stroyan at 563-652-3783 or jmeyer@jacksoncounty.iowa.gov
