CSI: Streams Edition

Jennifer Kurth, Natural Resources Biologist with the Iowa DNR, works to improve streams that are listed as impaired for aquatic life but the cause is unknown. Join us in learning more about her ‘environmental CSI’ job and how she helps Iowa’s waterways. Her area of expertise is freshwater mussels and she is currently in the midst of a six-year,state-wide survey of freshwater mussels in Iowa rivers and streams. This interesting presentation will include a cool video, mussel shells to examine; and weather depending, a trip to investigate a local stream.
