Women’s Backpacking 101 Workshop

Event Summary

Spend a long weekend in one of Iowa’s prettiest forests – just in time for fall colors! Along the way, participants will learn many of the skills necessary for a successful backpacking trip. Skills include proper tent set-up, backpacking stove use, how to fit and pack a backpack, map reading and compass use, knot tying, water filtration, and how to complete a bear hang (not that we’ll need it!). We’ll cover about 8 miles of new trail each day with full packs. All food, transportation, and backpacking gear is included in the fee (participants will need to provide personal gear such as clothing and footwear).
