Volunteer Prairie Seed Harvest
NOV 04 2018 9:00 AM
Event Summary
Volunteers are needed to bring in the seed! This event is open to individuals, youth groups, college students, families, and active senior citizens.
Instruction and materials will be given at 9:00 a.m. Please meet at the Evergreen Landing on the west side of Kent Park (see attached map). Everyone will then head right into the prairie flowers and grasses to harvest at their own pace.
Volunteers should wear a long-sleeved shirt, long pants, gloves, and closed-toe shoes, and should bring a water bottle and snacks as needed.
The event may be cancelled for stormy weather. In this case, an update would be posted to the Johnson County Conservation Facebook page that morning. If you don't have Facebook, assume that the event is cancelled if it has rained (more than a sprinkle) over the last 12 hours. Prairie seed molds easily when wet, so dry conditions are preferred.
