Smith Lake Park is located 3 miles north of Algona on the west side of Highway 169.
This campsite is located near the playground area and the swimming beach.
The nightly camping rate for walk-in sites is $15 to be paid at the time of arrival.
You can now pay using the new Instant Pay feature by scanning the QR code on the campsite post.
If you pay by card, the nightly rate is $15.60. The extra 60 cents is a 4% convenience fee to help cover our credit card processing fees.
You will still need to fill out an envelope at the registration kiosk and drop it in the payment pedestal, just as you would if paying by cash or check. Please indicate that you have paid online on the envelope.
Be sure to tag your site upon payment with the filled out top portion of your registration envelope.
Customer AND camping unit (camper, trailer, vehicle, erected tent) must physically be at the campsite to scan & utilize the INSTANT PAY QR Code. Day #1 of the booking will be that day, and length of stay will not exceed 14 days. If the site is empty, even though a paid booking is in place - it shall be determined to be vacated or improperly paid for in violation of this Instant Pay Policy. The site registration will be immediately voided and available to the next Instant Pay Customer. There will be no refunds for violations of any portion of this policy.
Campsite Reservations Agreement
By your agreement with these terms and conditions, you represent that you are 18 years or older (21 years of age if beer or wine will be available at your campsite) and that you are authorized to make the reservation on behalf of the camping party you have listed. You further agree to assume full responsibility for the acts, negligence, or omissions of the members of your group while utilizing said facilities.
Additionally, you agree that you have read and understand the CANCELLATION and REFUND POLICIES concerning this reservation, and have also read and understand the FACILITY CONTRACT information. You are reserving a facility in a Kossuth County Conservation Board Park. ALL COUNTY PARK RULES AND STATE LAWS ARE ENFORCED. Contact KCCB staff listed on your reservation confirmation email if you have any questions about park rules, policies, or special requests. Failure to clean up the facility or surrounding area as outlined, or failure to comply with park rules or state laws may result in enforcement action. Kossuth County Conservation may take any legal action necessary to recover damages to county property.
ALL campsites, online reservable or walk-in, have a maximum stay of 2 weeks with a 3-day vacancy. Meaning, if you stayed 2 weeks at Smith Lake South Campground you can vacate Smith Lake South and go camp over in Siems Park for 3 days and return to Smith Lake South Campground. In accordance with the 2 weeks stay limit, every campsite must follow the check-in and check-out time rules, seen below, or another night will be charged for camping.
CHECK-IN TIME: After 4:00 PM on your day of arrival
CHECK-OUT TIME: Before 3:00 PM on day of departure

GETTING INTO YOUR CAMPSITE
A camping unit is required. A camping unit is defined as a tent, trailer or motor vehicle specifically designed for such use as a temporary residence in a campground. Upon arrival, set up your camping unit on the reserved site, ONE camper and ONE tent per campsite OR TWO tents per campsite. Confirm your arrival by submitting a self-registration envelope, located at the campground registration station, with the name/address and reservation confirmation number and post the camping receipt from registration envelope on the provided site marker. (See the registration kiosk located in the campground for additional information).

CLEAN-UP
You are required to clean up the campsite and surrounding area – returning them to the condition you received them. Plan to have your campsite cleaned and people departed prior to the scheduled checkout time of 3:00 PM.
VISITORS
All visitors (other than registered overnight campers) must depart the park by 10:30 PM. Quiet hours start at 10:30 PM – 7 AM.
SMOKING
Smoking is prohibited in all buildings.
DRIVING/PARKING
If parking is not available on or near the camping pad, vehicle(s) must park in designated parking areas. All driving shall be confined to designated roadways. All visitors and registered campers must obey speed limits, stop signs, and speed bumps, etc.
ALCOHOL POLICY
Kegs are prohibited.
MUSIC / NOISE
It shall be unlawful to operate or use any radio, television, stereo, musical instrument, electric generating plants, power saws, or any similar equipment in or on any area in such a manner as to create excessive noise and/or disturb other persons. All campers shall maintain quiet and avoid excessive noise in the campgrounds during “Quiet Hours,” between the hours of 10:30 PM and 7:00 AM.
REFUSE
All refuse must be placed in the centralized dumpster containers provided.
PETS
Pets are allowed, but must be always under control and are PROHIBITED in all ENCLOSED buildings. Pets must be always cleaned up after. Pets shall not be left unattended outside the camping unit. Park Staff have the right to remove any pets from the campground should problems arise.
RESERVATION DETAILS/MODIFICATIONS (INCLUDING DATE CHANGE)
ALL online reservations must be made in advance of 5-days prior to stay. There is a minimum stay of 2 nights on the weekends and a minimum stay of 3 nights for all holidays. In order to make any modification to an existing reservation, the request must be 2 weeks prior to the original arrival date. If the request is a date change, the new date must be within the calendar year. A date change must be used for the same type of facility in a Kossuth County Conservation Park. All reservation modifications may not be done online, but must be made by calling or emailing the Nature Center Office/Maintenance Shop. Campsite reservations are Non-Transferable.
Consider this policy prior to purchasing a reservation. Please understand at the time of booking your reservation you immediately prohibit other people from reserving and utilizing that campsite; therefore, they will go elsewhere to locate a facility for that date. Name of person on the reservation will be the only person who can cancel or reschedule a facility reservation. All cancellations or requests to reschedule date of reservation cannot be done online and must be made by calling and/or emailing the Nature Center Office/Maintenance Shop, at least 14 days in advance of the original reservation arrival date. If a rescheduling of a reservation is needed, that rescheduled date must be submitted and approved by the Park Staff at least 2 weeks prior to the original reservation date of arrival. A reservation holder has only ONE opportunity to reschedule their original reservation.
If a facility reservation is cancelled by Kossuth County Conservation Board due to a natural disaster or if by some means the facility is unusable, a full camping fee refund will be issued to the person that made the original reservation (processing fees WILL be refunded).
REFUND POLICY
Consider this policy prior to purchasing a reservation. The fee charged for two nights of camping is NONREFUNDABLE. All other camping fees may be refunded if: refund request is received at least 14 days in advance of the original arrival date of the camping reservation (processing fees will not be refunded). If a facility reservation is cancelled by Kossuth County Conservation Board due to a natural disaster, or if by some means the facility is unusable, a FULL refund (including processing fees) will be refunded.
Refunds will be mailed in the form of a check from the Kossuth County Conservation Board along with a letter of explanation and confirmation of cancellation the refund. Refund checks will be mailed out on a monthly basis.
