Discover Denning Conservation Area in Donnellson

Spanning 260 acres, Denning Conservation Area was generously donated by Conrad and Eleanor Denning to the Iowa DNR Wildlife Division. This scenic area is now managed by Lee County Conservation and offers diverse attractions on both sides of 130th Street. The north side of the property showcases a flourishing restored native prairie and a stunning field of sunflowers, perfect for photography in late summer and dove hunting in the fall. On the south side, visitors can view a historic barn from 1880, enjoy a large playground, relax under a shelter house, play on a half basketball court, or stroll along a walking trail. Please note: Hunting is permitted only on the north side of the property.
