Nestled in the heart of Flying Squirrel Campground, the Flying Squirrel Shelter sits adjacent to the playground, the Mary Lundby bridge, and a trail connection that leads to Central City. Watercraft concession with kayak, canoe rentals, and paddle boat rentals is within walking distance. Eight picnic tables provided.
Location
Enter the north access entrance off of Highway 13 at Valley Farm Road and follow the park signs to the Flying Squirrel Campground area.

Flying Squirrel Shelter is located in the Flying Squirrel Campground next to the showerhouse with flush restrooms on the north side of the park.

Hours of Operation & Seasons
Flying Squirrel Shelter is a seasonal facility available for reservations from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily April 15th - October 15th. (NOTE: When not reserved, the shelter is available on a first-come, first-served basis, but without electricity).
Closures
Flying Squirrel Shelter is closed to reservations October 16th - April 14th. The area is prone to flooding during moderate high-water episodes on the Wapsipinicon River, which may cause the shelter to be closed.
