The American Bison, the new US National Mammal, was once one of the most numerous animals in North America.This animal was a mainstay for Native Americans who roamed the prairies from southern Canada to northern Mexico. The bison provided food, tools, toys, clothing and shelter for many Plains tribes, and even those who once lived in Iowa. Enjoy an evening of exploring the various ways the Native American used this animal and what it meant for their survival.Participants will handle actual items made by a present dayre-creator of Native American objects. Cost: $2.50/adult,$1/child (16 and under) or $5/family.
