Dressing for the Cold

Event Summary
Dressing for the COLD December 6 - Thursday, 6:00-9:00 p.m. at Wickiup Hill
While many Iowans seem to find a way to make it through our cold Iowa winters, can you actually say you are always comfortable out on adventures? This class is for you if you have ever faced the cold and the cold has won. We will cover the basics on how to prepare for and thrive in the cold. Naturalist Chuck Ungs has camped in a tent at -38 degrees Fahrenheit and has many outdoor adventures that have helped shape his expertise on how to stay warm when winter’s cold approaches. Research has led to a series of systems that will help you avoid the ways that your heat is transferred to the environment, making you feel chill. This is timed to be helpful to some of the late season deer hunters, ice anglers, skiers, snowmobilers and other winter recreation enthusiasts before the season hits it’s coldest. Advanced Registration: Not required/show up Cost: $2.50/adult, $1/child (16 and under) or $5/family
